Um Ahmed
The best version of Um Ali. Recipe by my mother, Um Ahmed.
Ingredients
160 g mini butter crossaints
425 g palmiers
125 g puff pastry sticks
5 cups milk
2 cans (160 ml each) evaporated milk
1/2 cup condensed milk
1/2 tsp cardamom
1 tsp cinnamon
vanilla
1 cup mixed chopped nuts
Topping
1/2 cup condensed milk
1/2 cup whipping cream
300 g cream
50 g butter, melted
vanilla
Method
Break up the croissants, palmiers, and puff pastry sticks into a baking dish. Set aside some (around 200 g) to top off later.
Sprinkle 1/2 cup of the nuts on the biscuits.
In a saucepan, add the milk, condensed milk, and evaporated milk. Allow to boil.
Add the cardamom, cinnamon, and vanilla.
Pour the mixture over the biscuits and nuts.
Add the biscuits that were set aside and the remaining 1/2 cup of nuts on top.
Combine all the topping ingredients. Pour the mixture on top.
Bake for 15-20 minutes.
