Filo Custard Pie

Filo baked with custard resulting in a crunchy top and soft pudding-like bottom.


Ingredients

  • Filo pastry, around 600 g

  • 150 g butter, melted

Custard:

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • 1 cup milk

  • 2 eggs

  • vanilla 

  • 1/4 tsp cardamom

  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

Syrup:

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1/2 cup water


Method 

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F.

  • Take two pieces of filo dough each time and scrunch in a 13*9” baking pan. 

  • Continue taking two pieces of filo dough and repeating the process until the baking pan is filled.

  • Pour the butter and bake for 15 minutes.

  • Whisk the custard’s ingredients and pour over the baked filo. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and crispy.

  • Boil the sugar and water to prepare the syrup.

  • Pour the syrup over the filo.
