Cream filled Filo Pastry

Crispy filo filled with homemade cream and soaked in syrup.

Ingredients

  • 6 filo sheets

  • 50 g butter, melted

  • Filling:

    1 cup milk

    3 tbsp corn starch

    1 tbsp honey

    1 tbsp rose water

    1/2 tsp orange blossom water

  • Syrup:

    1/2 cup honey 

    1/4 cup water


Method

  • In a saucepan on medium heat, combine the starch and milk. Whisk until thickened.

  • Add the rosewater, honey, and orange blossom water. Set aside.

  • Lay a piece of filo, brush some of the melted butter, and lay another piece. Repeat the process for the six sheets.

  • Cut it lengthwise into 3 sections and horizontally into 4 sections ending up with 12 squares.

  • Place a dollop of the prepared filling onto the squares. 

  • Fold the squares creating triangles carefully securing the sides.

  • Lay the triangles onto a baking tray and bake for 20 min until golden and crispy.

  • While hot pour the prepared syrup by boiling the honey and water.
