Date Cake


Ingredients

Topping

  • 50 g butter, browned

  • 200 g dates

  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

Cake

  • 50 g butter, softened

  • 1/3 cup sugar

  • vanilla

  • 1 egg

  • 1/3 cup water

  • 1 cup flour

  • 1/2 tbsp baking powder


Method

  • Preheat the oven at 180°C/350°F. Line a 9 in cake pan with baking paper.

  • In a saucepan, melt the butter until the fat has browned.

  • Add the cinnamon and dates. Add the mixture in the pan.

  • Whisk the butter and sugar.

  • Add the egg and vanilla.

  • Add the water, flour, and baking powder. Pour the mixture over the topping.

  • Bake for 30 minutes.
