Brioche

The perfect, fluffy slice of bread for a sandwich, French toast, or pudding!

Ingredients

Serving: 1 loaf

  • 500g flour

  • 2 eggs

  • 50g sugar

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 10g yeast

  • 100g butter

  • 200ml milk

Egg wash:

  • 1 egg

  • 2 tbsp milk


Method

  • In a stand mixer fitted with a hook attachment, beat the flour, eggs, milk and yeast until combined.

  • Add butter, sugar, salt, then mix for 5-8 min until smooth and elastic.

  • Proof the brioche dough in a covered bowl for 1 - 2 hours, until it doubles in size.

  • Divide the brioche in three and roll each into a log, then braid it tightly.

  • Place brioche dough in a 30cm long bread loaf tin.

  • Proof again until risen around 15-20 min.

  • Brush with egg wash.

  • Bake in preheated oven at 200°C / 390°F for about 25 min or until golden brown.

  • Cool down and enjoy.
