Belgian Liege Waffles


Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup warm milk

  • 1 1/2 tsp instant dry yeast

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

  • 100 g butter, melted

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 2/3 cups flour

  • vanilla

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1/2 cup (100 g) crushed sugar cubes


Method

  • Mix the milk, yeast, and sugar. Set aside for 10 minutes.

  • Add the butter and eggs into the yeast mixture.

  • Add in the flour, vanilla, and salt. Mix until smooth for 2-3 minutes.

  • Cover and set aside for 30 minutes.

  • Roughly crush the sugar cubes and add them into the dough. Cover and allow to rest for 20 minutes.

  • Preheat the waffle iron. Coat the waffle iron with butter and scoop (1/4 cup) the batter into the center.

  • Cook for 4-5 minutes.

  • Butter the iron in between each waffle. Enjoy warm.
