Apple Slices


Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 cups flour

  • pinch of salt

  • 150 g butter, cold

  • 1 egg

  • vanilla

  • 3 tbsp water, cold

Filling

  • 1/3 brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp flour

  • pinch of salt

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 6 apples, peeled and sliced

Glaze

  • 60 g browned butter

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • vanilla

  • 1 tbsp water


Method

  • In a food processor, add the flour, salt, and butter. Pulse until coarse.

  • Add the egg, water, and vanilla. Pulse until just combined.

  • Cut the dough in half. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

  • Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F.

  • In a bowl, add the sugar, salt, flour, cinnamon, and vanilla. Add the apples and mix to combine.

  • Roll one disc of dough to the size of a 9*13” sheet pan. Place it onto the sheet pan.

  • Add the filling. Refrigerate.

  • Roll the other disc and place it on the filling. Pinch the bottom crust and top crust to seal.

  • Prick the top with a fork.

  • Bake for 45 minutes until golden.

  • In a saucepan, add the butter and allow the milk solids to brown.

  • In a bowl, mix the sugar, vanilla, water, and butter.

  • Pour over the baked apple pie.

  • Allow to cool completely before slicing.
