Maamoul

A quicker version of the buttery shortbread filled with dates.


Ingredients

Dough

  • 200 g butter

  • 4 pieces kiri cheese

  • 1/4 cups powdered sugar

  • 1/3 cup powdered milk

  • 2 cups flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Filling

  • 400g pitted dates

  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom

  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon


Method 

  • In a food processor, mix the butter, sugar, kiri, and powdered milk.

  • Add flour and mix. Chill the dough.

  • Meanwhile, mix the dates with cardamom and cinnamon in a food processor.

  • Take an amount of dough and stuff it with a mixture of dates and roll into balls. Place it in the maamoul tool and press.

  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C / 350°F for 20 minutes.
