Kabak Tatlisi (Pumpkin Dessert)
A traditional Turkish dessert made from pumpkin. It is a simple dish that showcases the flavor and sweetness of the pumpkin. The dessert is garnished with chopped walnuts, tahini, and fresh cream.
Ingredients
1 kg pumpkin
1/2 cup sugar
vanilla
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup tahini
1/3 cup fresh cream
Method
Peel, core, and slice the pumpkins into small cubes.
In a pot, add the pumpkin and sugar. Cover and set aside for 2-4 hours.
Cook over medium heat for 30-50 minutes or until it softens.
Remove the cooked pumpkins and allow the syrup to boil until thickened.
Add in the vanilla.
Place the pumpkins back into the pot and cook until caramelized.
Serve the pumpkins with the syrup, chopped walnuts, tahini, and fresh cream.
