Greek Orange Cake
Ingredients
Cake
30 g butter
1/3 cup sugar
1 egg, separated
vanilla
1/3 cup flour
1/3 cup fine semolina
1 tsp baking powder
1/3 cup milk
Syrup
1/2 cup orange juice
1/4 cup sugar
orange peel
Method
Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F. Line a 9 in loaf pan with baking paper.
In a saucepan, boil the orange juice, sugar, and orange peel until the sugar dissolves. Allow to cool.
Beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the egg yolk and vanilla.
Fold in the flour, semolina, baking powder, and milk.
Whisk the egg white in a separate bowl until stiff. Fold it in.
Bake for 20-25 minutes.
Pour the cooled syrup on the cake.
