Banana Chocolate Cake


Ingredients

Cake

  • 1 cup flour

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

  • 1 egg

  • vanilla

  • 1/4 cup oil

  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

  • 1/2 cup hot water

Topping

  • 50 g butter

  • 1/3  cup brown sugar

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1-2 bananas, sliced

  • Nutella

  • Powdered Sugar

  • Pistachios

Note: buttermilk substitute:

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 1/2 tbsp vinegar

    • allow it to sit for 5 min before using


Method

  • In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients.

  • Stir in the egg, vanilla, oil, and buttermilk. Slowly pour the hot water and stir.

  • In a 9 in nonstick pan, add the butter and brown sugar. Allow it to melt.

  • Stir in the cinnamon. Place the sliced bananas on top.

  • If you are not using a nonstick pan, butter it. Carefully pour the cake mixture on top.

  • Cover the pan and allow it to cook for around 30 min on low heat on the smallest stovetop.

  • Allow it to cool completely before flipping it.

  • Top it with Nutella, powdered sugar, and pistachios.
