French Apple Cake

Unlike other apple cakes this classic relies on the buttery cake dough and chunks of apples, so no crumble, topping, spice, or glaze.
I also suggest using small apples and the combination of red and green.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup flour

  • 3/4 tsp baking powder

  • pinch of salt

  • 2 eggs

  • 3/4 cup sugar

  • vanilla

  • 3 tbsp milk

  • 100g butter, melted and cooled

  • 4 apples (2 red & 2 green)

Method

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F/180°C. Butter and line a springform pan with baking paper.

  • Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt and set aside.

  • Whisk the eggs, vanilla, and sugar until foamy.

  • Add half of the dry mixture and combine, the butter, then the rest of the dry mixture.

  • Peel, core, and chop the apples into cubes.

  • Fold into the batter.

  • Pour into the prepared pan. Bake for 45-50 min.
