Apple Walnut Pie
This pie combines tender apples and crunchy walnuts in a buttery crust, topped with a rich, gooey caramel filling. Perfect with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
Ingredients
Dough
1 ¼ cup flour
100 g butter, cold
¼ tsp salt
3 tbsp water, cold
Filling
75 g butter
1 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup corn syrup
vanilla
¼ tsp salt
3 eggs
4 apples
1 1/4 cup walnuts
Method
Dough
In a food processor, add the flour, butter, and salt. Pulse until combined and resembles sand.
Add the water and pulse until the dough just comes together. Don't over-mix.
Wrap it and chill for at least an hour.
Filling
In a saucepan, add the butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup. Cook until the butter has melted. Set aside to cool.
Meanwhile, peel, core, and thinly slice the apples.
Add the eggs, vanilla, and salt to the cooled filling mixture.
Assembly
Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F.
Roll the dough. Press lightly in a 10-inch pan and trim the excess dough using a knife.
Place the walnuts and lay the apples on top. Slowly pour the filling mixture.
Bake for 50-55 minutes. Allow it to cool. Serve with ice cream.
